Climatic and Technological Challenges in Science Education: Intercultural Dialogues from the Global South
This proposal consists of an Extension Course within the framework of the Extension Project Decoloniality in Science and Technology Education: Dialogues from the South (ongoing), carried out in collaboration with partners from other institutions. Its main goal is to foster intercultural dialogue between the university and society around decolonial studies, with an emphasis on experiences in the field of science and technology education.
The course seeks to promote remote debates and discussions on issues related to the various challenges currently affecting the field of science education — particularly those connected to cultural, environmental, climatic, and humanitarian aspects, as well as the impact of new autonomous technologies on everyday life.
Throughout the activities, concepts related to decolonial and intercultural perspectives in science education will be introduced, featuring key national and international authors in this field. In addition, the course will encourage the presentation of research conducted by undergraduate and graduate students and will create spaces for other social actors and institutions to share their experiences and engage with the university, fostering an environment of mutual learning.
The organizing committee will be composed of professors and students from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) and the Federal University of the State of Rio de Janeiro (UNIRIO), affiliated with the LINEC and GEASUR research groups, in collaboration with the INTERCITEC Group from the Universidad Distrital Francisco José de Caldas (Colombia).
